The country has definitely moved on. I’m not sure of the amount of progress since the earthquake, but they have moved from grieving to, perhaps anger and frustration. As you know, the political scene is a circus, with Papa Doc here and nobody knows what he’s doing here. Furthermore, the president wants to retain power, and the election results seem to be extremely questionable.
All this being said, the Haitians are resilient. They bounce bank, they use their skills to better themselves. They are very clever. I’m not sure how or if they will surpass what they had prior to the earthquake one year ago, but I think they are trying their best. That being said, they won’t be able to truly progress with their current government infrastructure… We will see.
