I spent a week in a Bakkan hospital. This was a CPA I hospital which meant it was a smaller hospital. There was one doctor, the director who staffed the entire hospital and a team of nurses/midwives. Even though it was a slower time, since the Khmer New Year was the following week, there were many patients specifically trauma patients. Like in the states, New Years is a time with a lot of traveling and drinking, and therefore a lot of trauma. Since this hospital has a pediatric, maternity and medicine ward, but no surgery backup, more complex patients are transferred to Sampov Meas or Battanbang.
(Check back in a couple of Days for more from Usha’s stay at the Bakkan Hospital!)
