Dr. Kyriacou recently revisted Nigeria after having gone there in 2009, he was able to sit down for an interview sharing his experiences training Nigerian scientists and reflects back on a journey as a global health provider and trainer.
This year in Nigeria marked the start of a special program funded by the NIH/Fogarty Center. The course within this program was called “Data analysis and manuscript writing”, an intensive course consisting of 20 physicians, statisticians and epidemiologists. The course focused on dataset management, analysis and manuscript organization and writing; helping Nigerian scientists organize tables, draft methods and result sections.
He hopes that his workshops and seminars help Nigerian researchers to do the best research possible. Believing that teaching research methods, quantitative skills and helping others understand these methods will make them successful in their research.
